My research has led to the development of a variety of pieces of software. I’ve made certain applications available as free downloads here. All of these are part of ongoing research, so please let me know if you spot a bug! It’s a work in progress!

SubOptimal

I’m currently working on a free piece of software for live sound subwoofer array design and optimization. In my mind, it picks up where the manufacturer-provided software leaves off. Hoping for release sometime in 2020 (if not sooner)!

Offlive

Ross Hammond is currently working with Bruce Wiggins and me on some very cool and useful software for live sound. [NOTE: This software is part of Ross’s PhD, so is currently under development. Stay tuned!]

LowFAT

Low-Frequency Acoustics Toolbox. This is a piece of acoustic modeling software that specializes in low-frequency simulation (using an FDTD approach). The toolbox allows for non-rectangular topologies and obstacles to be placed within a space. A large set of data analysis and auralization options are included. Originally released in 2010 (then known as the FDTD Simulation Toolbox).

FullFAT

Full-Frequency Acoustics Toolbox. This is a piece of acoustic modeling software that is similar in functionality to LowFAT, but provides acoustic simulations for the full audible spectrum (using an image source approach). A large set of data analysis and auralization options are included. Originally released in 2017.

Virtual Bass Toolbox

This toolbox allows users to apply virtual bass to a .wav file. The software has options for nonlinear device (time-domain) or phase vocoder (frequency domain) virtual bass synthesis, with an additional option to use a hybrid approach developed through previous research. Originally released in 2011. [NOTE: This toolbox is currently being updated. Stay tuned for a new and improved version!]
